The verification clause matters

Split the paragraphs honestly between personal knowledge and information believed to be true. Courts do look at this, and a blanket claim of personal knowledge about matters you could not personally know undermines the whole affidavit.

A false affidavit is an offence

Swearing a false affidavit attracts prosecution for perjury under Sections 191 and 193 of the Indian Penal Code, and courts have initiated proceedings on their own motion. Do not sign one you have not read.

Stamp and attestation

Requirements vary by state and by purpose. Most affidavits are executed on stamp paper of the prescribed value and sworn before a notary or oath commissioner; those filed in court follow the court’s own rules.
