GST Calculator — Add or Remove GST at Any Rate
Whether you are raising an invoice or checking one you have received, the arithmetic is the same but the direction matters. This adds GST to a base price or strips it out of an inclusive figure, and shows the CGST and SGST split.

Adding versus extracting
Adding GST is straightforward: multiply the taxable value by the rate. Extracting it from an inclusive price is where errors creep in, because people deduct the rate from the total instead of dividing.
For an 18% inclusive price, the taxable value is the total divided by 1.18, not the total minus 18%. On a ₹1,18,000 invoice that is the difference between ₹1,00,000 and ₹96,760.
CGST, SGST and IGST
A supply within a state attracts central GST and state GST in equal halves. A supply between states attracts integrated GST at the full rate, collected by the Centre and apportioned.
Place of supply determines which applies, and for services it is not always where the supplier sits. Getting this wrong means paying the tax twice and claiming a refund for the wrong one.
Where GST meets legal disputes
Unpaid invoices with GST already discharged are a common commercial dispute — the supplier has paid tax to the government on money never received. Section 34 credit notes and the conditions for reversing that liability are worth understanding before writing off a debt.
GST demand notices, input credit mismatches and classification disputes have their own appeal structure with strict timelines and pre-deposit requirements.
